Many of you will notice that chocolate eggs are now a FRACTION of the cost they were in the weeks leading up to Easter. So how can we buy now, at ridiculously discounted prices, and save for next year's Easter hunts?
Buying Now
Try and find eggs that have a best before date closest to next Easter. It might still be in this current year, but aim to get as close as possible. Don't go crazy just because they are cheap. Keep in mind how much you will need for next year's hunts and goodie bags and buy accordingly.
Correct Storage
Ideally, chocolate should be stored in a slightly cool, dry, dark place. The perfect environment would be 15 to 20 degrees celcius with a humdity level less than 50%. Store the chocolate out of direct sunlight and away from other foods or substances with strong odors. These odors can be absorbed by the chocolate. Frequent exposure to high tempartures can cause the cocoa butter to rise to the surface, creating "bloom", an unpleasant cloudy gray color. The ideal place would be a wardrobe that is kept relatively dark and isn't exposed to high temperatures during summer months.
