If you are anything like me, talk of politics and all the backward handling of policies can send you into a tailspin. Who, what, where, why? Does it even matter to me? Well, if you only take note of one particular part of the Government's actions each year, it should be the Federal Budget which will be revealed tonight by Treasurer, Wayne Swan. Why? Because there could be some real benefits for your family when it comes to tax, family assistance and other Government funded initiatives.
For example, The Prime Minister has already confirmed that the Federal government will offer extra support to families with teenagers at school. Julia Gillard said there would be major increases in family payments for many thousands of Australian families if their teenage children stay on longer at school. She said the budget would deliver an increase in Family Tax Benefit (FTB) Part A for 16-19 year olds with families receiving up to an additional $4,200 a year for each eligible teenager that stays in school.
And this is just one part of what will be revealed in tonight's Federal Budget.
Be sure you check in with Bargain Mums tomorrow morning for a full wrap up.
